Business - What I have Learned This Year August 02 2017, 0 Comments
I want to share a few things I have learned for my business this year, the first one is to have a system in place that works for you, your business and your lifestyle.
For me this year that has meant planning my year, and my projects 6 months to a year in advance, and then breaking it all down into 90 days/3 month blocks.
And only having one major project and 2 smaller ones per month, This is where my daily planners, yes I have 3 one for life, business, and social media / blogging, come in handy, and frankly I am not sure I could manage my days without them, currently I am using my Emily Ley pink dots, daily planner.
But come September I will be using my own daily and weekly planner printables, currently, a work in progress so can an eye out on the website and Facebook for launch information.
I have learned to have some sort of marketing system in place, now I will be honest, I am not a natural sales person, and I hate blowing my own trumpet, and fake ads of any kind.
I prefer to communicate on a more soulful, helpful and natural level, but for my own sanity I've learned the art of batching, yes this is really a thing, for me I set one day aside, to create my social media and blog graphics which I do mostly via canva, and another day for social media and blog content and scheduling.
I only schedule 1 post per day, deliberately as I hate bombarding people, as for me I would much rather have a conversation, a natter over tea and cake.
Not only that in a world that is saturated with over sharing, information overload, I would hope that if you wanted to know anything, you would ask me, go on I don't bite.
Pay attention to my dreams & goals......
Check in with them monthly, are they still viable, are they heart centred, are they in alignment with what I really want to offer, if it's not then it has to go, my sole aim is to be true to my soul, my core offerings and you my lovely customers and clients, want me to create something specific, then let me know, I am always open to suggestions, gentle critic and conversation.
And finally, to roll with the punches.. life as a business women, is not an easy one, especially when you are juggling, not 1 but 3 business all run from the corner of my living room.
Four, yes 4, grown up children, 3 with learning difficulties, 1 granddaughter, 1 husband, daughters boyfriend and a mad border collie all under the same roof.
Plus the general madness of life such as cooking, cleaning, shopping, finding time for other family and friends.
And I thank each and every one of you for understanding, if I don't answer a message or email straight away, if an order is delayed by a day due to a family emergency, your patience and kindness is what keeps me going, and keeps me doing what I love.
Hugs & Wishes
